Source Galileo Norge
Our Norwegian team is led by industry veteran Gunnar Birkeland and is developing floating offshore wind projects that have the potential to transform renewable energy supply in Norway.
Norway has a highly-developed offshore engineering sector, and is well positioned to make a major contribution to floating offshore wind production. Source Galileo Norge will lead in several important technical areas and help to develop new technologies that can be applied in Norway and other projects across the globe.
Building a strong local team
Led by CEO Gunnar Birkeland, Source Galileo Norge aims to develop, build, own, and operate high quality floating offshore wind parks. Gunnar has many years of experience in the offshore sector and is the current chairman of the Norwegian Offshore Wind Industry cluster. With two major partnership-driven projects in development, our team is developing specialised knowledge and experience that will benefit the industry as a whole.

On track to becoming a major player
One of the substantial offshore projects in Norway will see Gunnar and his team partnering with Odfjell Oceanwind as part of the UtsiraVIND consortium. Their focus is on competing for seabed leases in the Utsira Nord area, using Odfjell Oceanwind’s proprietary solutions and suppliers for cost-competitive, industrial production of floating offshore wind parks.
Fully committed to a green future
Norway has a long and proud maritime history, from Viking seafaring, fisheries, and shipping to the large energy production platforms that we see today. Extreme weather conditions are part of everyday life in Norwegian waters.
At Source Galileo Norge, we understand the potential of floating offshore wind to help our planet transition from fossil fuels to clean, renewable sources of energy – both in Norway and beyond.

UtsiraVIND
Working with Odfjell Oceanwind, Source Galileo Norge will apply for a seabed lease on Utsira Nord.

GoliatVIND
Odfjell Oceanwind, Source Galileo Norge and Vår Energi are collaborating on a pilot project for a floating offshore wind farm in the Barents Sea.
